Colorado River Trip

In September we met up with a bunch of friends from Southern California for a little canoeing trip on the Colorado River.  We met up at the Hoover dam, stayed at the Hacienda Hotel (nothin' but classy) and went on a 2-day canoeing trip.  It was so much fun.  A few highlights--camping, cliff jumping, canoeing, hiking, campfires, "floating" the river, amazing food (Thank you, Jensen's!)...and our favorite part was just catching up with old friends.  It was a quick trip, but we had a blast!              P.S. Thanks to everyone who watched Sienna so we could go on this trip! (Kate, Mom, Nelly....).
Me and Steph Jensen. LOVE (and miss!) this girl!

A bunch of people from the group had waterproof cameras and took tons more pictures, so I need to steal some of the group shots!

So Cal trip August 2010

I don't have enough energy to do journal about our August California trip, so for now I'll just post some pictures.  Just know that we had an amazing time--the weather was perfect!  I'll post details soon....

Ok, can not get enough of Syd in her zebra print bikini. Those thighs are amazing!

CHEESE!!!!!  Sienna was a little obsessed with Christy. She totally preferred to hold Christy's hand over mine.  She loves her Auntie Christy.
I love this picture of Dan and his brother Jeff.  We had a fun day playing at Tamarack beach in Carlsbad.
And how sad is it that the only pictures of the Syed's I got was of Tracie's feet...but hey, they are good looking feet, right!?  We snuck away from the boys to get pedi's.....so nice!  I miss good, cheap pedicures! And I don't know why I can't get this picture formatted. Weird!
San Clemente, one of our favorite places on the planet!

Park City

I had a social work conference up in Park City a couple of weeks ago, so Dan and Sienna came up and stayed overnight with me at the hotel. The conference was actually really good, and it was fun to have Dan & Sienna to play with at night and at lunch. I love Park City! I especially love main street. They have such quaint, cool restaurants and always have fun things going on. We went to dinner at Chimayo, which I've been wanting to try. It was good, but I think it looked prettier than it tasted! (If I were going to spend that kind of money on dinner, I would definitely go to Wahso instead...next time!). Anyway, we went to Loco Lizard for lunch the next day and we were both huge fans! We actually liked it way better than Chimayo...and it was way cheaper! Oh, and in case you were wondering, yes, there was snow on the ground! So wrong! I'm definitely not ready for winter...especially not in September! I'm just glad that it wasn't a bad enough snowstorm to leave all the trees bare. The trees were still super colorful, even with a little snow/frost on them. Wish I would've gotten a picture or two!

I love this picture!
fancy schmancy...

I had to post these pictures. I'm sure these will be used for blackmailing Sienna when she's a teenager! It's amazing how quickly this kid can tear apart a room, which she did to our hotel room. I just turned my back for a second and she had the entire tampon box out and was trying to hold (and chew!) as many as she could. She was totally fascinated! So funny!

Park City with the girlies!

My old roommate Chelsey was in town, so we decided to spend the weekend in Park City for a little girls weekend. We stayed at the Park City Resort Marriott and had a great time. We ate amazing food, slept in, stayed up late, enjoyed the hot tub, and shopped, of course! We had planned on chilling by the pool, reading smut magazines, but the weather (of course!) did not cooperate. It wasn't too bad, but just not laying out weather. Friday night we ate at a fantastic restaurant called Wahso, which is on Park City's main street. Kinda pricey, but super tasty and totally worth it. The whole experience was great--great service, great food, great ambiance. And we laughed...alot...like little girls (especially when we fought--and laughed until we cried--over who had to hand the 1/2 off coupons to the waiter at the fancy shmancy restaurant). Saturday morning Sarah and I went for a great run together. It was such a beautiful morning and I so enjoyed being outside and enjoying the mountain air. Mostly I just love hanging with the girls. Thanks, girls, for the much-needed time with my girls!

Here are a few favorite pics...

I don't know why we thought this was so funny, but we were dying when we saw this mannequin who had lost her drawers. Don't worry, Amber made her modest and covered her up with her big beach bag (after we took the pictures, of course!). So mature, I know!

Don't ask...
Our little booth at Wahso.

Sarah with her new "secretary" look--I love her with glasses and her new cute hair!
Sarah and I took a million of these "armpit shots" before we finally got one that was almost centered.

Sarah and Christy finding more uses for the hot wash clothes we were given to wash our hands with.

Lake Powell trip May 2009

Lake Powell is definitely one of the Hanson family's favorite vacation spots. We have a timeshare on a houseboat, so we are fortunate enough to be able to go quite often. We went down for Memorial Day weekend with my parents and Rob and some of his friends. Though we didn't have fabulous weather, we still managed to have a good time. We ate amazing food, played fun games, slept in, read good books, did a little sightseeing & a little wakeboarding. It was a very low-key, relaxing weekend. It's funny, Sienna is only 9 months old and this is her 2nd trip to Lake Powell. As you can tell from the pics, she wasn't quite sure about that life jacket, but she quickly warmed up and loved it once we got moving. I really need to do better at taking pictures of people other than just Sienna. If she weren't so dang cute.... I love this face Sienna is pulling. So funny!

Here's my dad as the "boat wrangler". (This is his new trick)

Get this thing off of me...now!!!

You're the meanest dad in the whole world!

Wait a minute...maybe this isn't so bad after all....

Hey, I LOVE boating!!!
Our little "nosy bear". This kid is SOOOOO nosy. Seriously, she gets into anything she can reach. She can't hear a sound across the room without rubbernecking to check out what's happening. She can't get a diaper change or eat or drink a bottle if there is anything else going on or anything within reaching distance. Rob told me about a clinical diagnosis that I think Sienna might have. It's called Fomo...Fear Of Missing Out. Poor little thing. I hope it's treatable.
