So I'm officially due in 5 days (Saturday, August 9th), but who knows when this baby will decide to come? Sometimes these first babies aren't as cooperative and don't come on time. The not knowing part is the worst. Anyway, I saw my OBGYN, Dr. Ryan Jones, last week and I was dilated to a 1 and the head is down, but the baby still hadn't dropped. I really like my new doctor, which I'm so happy about, since it was tough to change doctors during the last 5 weeks of my pregnancy. Last week we had a very candid discussion about being induced, episiotomies, epidurals, etc...and I really appreciated everything he said. One thing I didn't love hearing, but that makes sense and I can completely understand, is that he feels very strongly about going into labor naturally with your first baby. He said research and experience shows that everything goes smoother and there are better outcomes if we let these babies come when they are ready and let our body do what it knows how to do (generally speaking). So, he said he knows it seems like "cruel and unusual punishment," but that he would let me go 10 days over before he would induce me. Five days seems far away, but doable, but 2 1/2 more weeks? That feels like forever! You know it's bad when even breathing is hard. Dan thinks I'm just high maintenance and have crazy expectations, since I actually want to be able to breathe. Go figure... So, if I haven't gone into labor by August 19th, then I'll be induced. Keep your fingers crossed that this baby comes soon, so I don't have to wait until the 19th! We'll keep you posted!

we're all crossing our fingers over here!
Hey This is Melissa Merritt now Ayers. My dad Rick is your cousin. Hey just thought I would say Hi and congratulations on the baby.
I was induced 13 days late with Christian! Hello, that is like a 42 week pregnancy.
Then I was induced 10 days late with Layne. However, I went to get induced at 4 days late, 12 hours later they sent me home cause I didn't dilate. Went again at 6 days late, again sent home after 13 hours! Took a few days off went back at 10 days late, didn't dilate, they finally broke my water and then she was born 5 hours later. Hello again she was my 2nd too!
And I knew without a doubt when I conceived with both my children.
So hang in there! I feel your pain sister!
Love Ya!!
WOW! This is all so intense and incredible all at the same time! Oh, please be safe and comfortable and please, please, please let us know if we can do anything. After all, we Leo's have to help each other out!
Dr. Jones was my Dr. when I had Ethan. Just so you know- he induced me 7 days early on my first delivery! hmm. Maybe I had a different Dr. Ryan Jones.
The last few weeks are just the worst. The baby is just everywhere. I totally agree with Dan though, why should you be able to breathe? :)
Those last few days are the worst. If you feel up to it go walking thats how my labor started with both my kids. Good Luck!! I can't wait to see pics of your little darling.
When I first glanced at this I thought you said ready to poop..I had to do a double take..well which ever I hope you are "relieved soon". Love ya Amber
I highly recommend going in labor by yourself. I have only done that once (my 4th). It was so smooth and fast. I was induced 2 days late with Aspen and sat around for the whole day doing nothing. Boring. She finally came 11 hours after I got to the hospital. I know it's hard but try to get distracted. There will be plenty of time to do trivial things, like breathing/sleeping, after the baby comes:) Hopefully you will go into labor on your due date! Good luck!
Oh my gosh! He'll let you go 10 days past your due date? LOL! You know how impatient I am...I was dilated to a 5 and they wouldn't induce me so I drank casteroil, LOL! Mia came that night after lots of diaherria, haha did I just say that? Good luck Holly! Can't wait to see pictures of your beautiful baby girl...just enjoy this time of being able to sleep through the night!
I hear you. My first baby came on the due date, 2nd day before and all the other 3 later and later but I agree, don't get induced if you don't have to. I did my first 3 kids with no epideral, first 2 came natural, no problem. 3rd, they hooked me up to pit to get the contractions going... WOW is there a difference. Danny said, "you didn't scream like this before!" It definately makes labor more intense.
I would take the epideral if I was getting induced.
Hang in there! It is such a tough last stretch!

We are prayin' for that baby to come on time! Can't wait to see her cute little face :) Good luck!
Hang in there. I know how hard it can be at the end when you wonder why you can't breathe even when you are just lying in bed doing nothing. And when that "magic due date" comes and goes it really sucks, but it's better for everyone to let the baby come when she's ready. Mine were 3 days late and 10 days late, but your patience will be greatly rewarded.
That is Jessicas doctor and she loves him!! I know that you do not want to hear this but my sisters and I all had to wait 1-2 weeks past our due date on our firsts--it was not fun either. Once your due date comes and goes it is so SAD!! Hang in there--the good thing is you will only have to wait past your due date for your first baby. Keep us posted and good luck--I am crossing my fingers that something happens soon.
Lets go walk! I will come get you and we can go to the mall or to park city to the outlets or whatever. Lets get that baby to drop!!!
Holly! WOOOOHOOO!!! Best wishes. It'll be great! I actually love delivery day... Uh, if you get an epidural. GO EPIDURALS! I'm sooo excited for you. Keep us posted. And we'll have to get together when you feel up to it. I'll make my way down and meet the little one! Hang in there. You'll have your beautiful baby soon!

Good luck! My doc felt same way, I was scheduled to be induced at 10 days over, they stripped my membranes and I went into labor the day I was scheduled for induction, just relax and enjoy life without the responsibilities that you will have for the next 20+ years. So what if you can't breathe...ha ha, I already feel that way and I have 2 and a half more months, I'm in trouble!
