I just feel like I haven't had any time to do anything for myself, let alone take time to update my blog....so I'm taking advantage of a quiet night! Anyway, just thought I'd give a quick update on the pregnancy. I'm 28 weeks, which means I'm now officially in my third trimester. I feel huge! (And being so short-waisted doesn't help since she really had nowhere to go!) Anyway, I had another ultrasound a couple of weeks ago (since I've been having so much pain, they just want to make sure that my cervix isn't thinning at all) and everything still looks great. Baby is healthy and everything looks right on track, so that is encouraging. A few weeks ago I had 4-5 days of not having any pain when I walked and I was loving it. I even was able to do the eliptical at the gym and not hurt. I was totally excited that maybe the baby has moved around and ligaments were done stretching and I was going to feel ok for a little while. It was fun while it lasted, because now the pain is back, along with alot of back pain. Good times, good times! I just started seeing a chiropractor, and that really seems to be helping the back pain, so I'm optimistic. And I just keep reminding myself, no matter how painful it is, nothing is worse than feeling like you're going to throw up 24 hours a day, so I'm much rather feel this than morning sickness anyday. It's pretty crazy to feel the baby moving so much. I love it (except for tonight when she was up in my ribs and I couldn't even breathe!). For so long it just felt like I was a fish bowl and I had a guppie swimming around inside of me. That is not the case anymore, there is definitely is a little person in there. Whenever she's moving and kicking like crazy and I wonder what in the world she is doing and Dan will say, "Oh, it's so obvious. She's kickboxing!". He bought me a cute maternity tank top for the beach that says "Mama's little kicker" on the belly. He loves feeling her kick, which she seems to be doing all the time these days! It's like she's just reminding us that she's there! (As if I could forget!) I'm just starting to get all registered for baby stuff and baby showers are coming, which is alot of fun. I had one at work already and got some really cute stuff. I'm really having to be exercise my self-control these days and avoid the baby section at Target because I just want to buy all the adorable girl clothes! Any tips on registering do's and don'ts? Any recommendations for favorite things or "must-haves"? I'd love any help from the pros! ;)

I'm so happy to hear that Dan bought the tanktop! I thought it was soooo stinkin cute! Isn't feeling the baby move the best?
DID YOU END OF USING CHRISTINE FOR YOUR CHIROPRACTOR? SHOPPING FOR GIRLS IS SOOO MUCH FUN, I HAVE A MAJOR PROBLEM. ESPECIALLY ALL THE CUTE ROXY SURF STUFF!! SEE YA SOON!
I'm so excited for you to be a mumsie! It can be so fun! So sounds like you're moving to Utah! Details please! That's good news for me!
Hey! I'm glad to hear your pregnancy is going well (minus the crazy pain -- what's that all about?). As far as recommendations: I'm sure you've already heard about/seen those "Bumbo" chairs. They are a MUST! My kids both loved those Johnny Jump-Up things you attach to a door frame. And it's weird because that's all I can think of right now. I'll keep thinking...
Glad to hear you're coming back to the promised land (I like that I say "coming back" even though I don't even live there anymore). Even though it may not seem as glamorous as CA (which I love), having a baby and not having grandparents / siblings around can sometimes be really hard! You'll get to go out MUCH MORE and have so much help. I'm jealous! Let's get together this summer. Will you be around the middle of June?
I had those ligament pains and they were horrible, and both my babies were on my siatic (sp?) nerve and that was terrible too. So, I feel your pain! Pregnancy = not so fun. As for the must haves, here is my advice. I love my boppy, I really recommend one if you are going to nurse. I also recommend either a diaper genie or a diaper champ. I have had both, the genie I had with Stella and it broke. I love both, however I think I like the diaper champ better because it fits more diapers and you don't have to buy the expensive refils for it, you can use any garbage bag in it. But you can't go wrong with either. And my last bit of advice is to buy the newborn gowns that don't have the buttons for diaper changes, becasue you will be changing about 12-15 diapers per day at first and buttoning up the diaper change snaps on the outfits gets annoying, especially during the night time feedings, you just want to get back to bed and after buttoning up a onesie and then the pajamas, you will be annoyed. Oh, and one more thing, only buy like one or two packages of the newborn diapers, they grow so fast that you only need them for about the first week or two and they are expensive so don't waste your money on a bunch of them. Also, Huggies makes the Costco brand of diapers, so they are exactly the same as the regular huggies, they just aren't as cute and they are way less expensive, so I also recommend buying those instead of the name brand ones. The size 1/2 at Costco will fit your baby from birth until about 4 months old usually. Sorry, this is a novel. We also started buying diapers before both of our kids were born and we would just buy a box every time we went to Costco so we were stocked up after the baby was born and that was also helpful becasue there is so much last minute stuff you have to get after the baby is born, so it is nice to not have to worry about diapers. Okay, I'm done. Oh wait, I'm not. If you have a shower in Utah, invite me, I totally want to come. Now I am done for real.
Oh Holly--I know the feeling! I had so much back pain and ligamen pain. I also saw a chiropractor which was a Godsend! You MUST have a Madella Breast Pump! I liked the Playtex Dropins bottles the best, plus it's an easy clean up and they screw right onto your breastpump. Baby equipment is cheaper at Target than Baby's R Us. Oh, and baby bling is a MUST! LOL! Mia sleeps, bathes and swims in her earrings and bracelets =) Can't wait to see you next month and feel Little Missy kick!
Ditto on the boppy, nightgowns, and breast pump. Also, I wouldn't buy too many 0-3 or 3-6 month clothes. You will get TONS at your showers and when people come to visit the you after she is born. I would start with the 6-9 month sizes. We can't wait to see you. I was thinking of having a BBQ with Lori, Mandy, Ammie, etc. What do you think?

Buy 6-9 month clothing and bigger. I'm cheap, so I start buying at the end of the season for the next year. You can get great deals that way.

a bumbo! They are the best for helping baby sit up, you can put them on your counter while you're cooking dinner and they just watch you, in early stages of eating you can feed them in it too. Happy third trimester!
Congrats Holly. I'm so happy for you and Dan, and so sad to see you go. We will really miss you guys. It seems like everyone is fleeing CA lately, but it will be great for you to have family around with a newborn.
As for advice, it depends on what kind of "mom" you are. I'm an attachment parenting advocate, but that doesn't work for everyone. But for me, I can't live without my slings (I don't like to leave my kids in the carrier all the time - they need bonding and no flat heads). And I can carry them in a sling, nurse them, soothe them etc. Breast pumps are good, but I never used mine with Seth. I didn't do bottles with him, I just nursed him, so it depends on what you want to do. A breastfeeding pillow is great too, if you are nursing. The Boppy is popular, and I discovered a "My breast friend" the 2nd time, which I liked more. And lots of burp/spitup rags. I have spitty kids and they go through a ton a day. I have lots more advice but don't want to overload you. If you ever want more input, give me a call.
Hey Holly, hang in there! I had those nasty ligament pains too. And I don't want to tell you this, but they were worse and started earlier with Tommy. But you don't have to think about that now. Just focus on getting through this one. :)
The Bumbo chair, Medela Breast Pump, a Nursing Cover (Hooter-Hider), binkie leashes (if you're gonna do binkies) have been life-savers for us. That's all that comes to mind at the moment.
Good luck! We love you!
Any updates? Can't wait to see you in a few weeks! I'll be in town June 20-30th. I'm staying at Nikki's the first few days. Lets get together!
