Bun in the Oven.....

For those of you who haven't heard, I'm prego. I know, I know, most of you didn't think Dan had it in him. :) Apparently, he did. Anyway, we had our first MD appointment last week and our first ultrasound on Friday. The ultrasound......what a trip! Little monkey, alien baby (must take after Dan) swimming around, seeing the heartbeat, hearing the heartbeat, fingers, toes, rolling over, moving, it was such a trip! I don't think all this felt real until we sat it on the screen. (By the way, if you haven't seen Juno, you have to! It's so great. We told the ultrasound tech all about it and told her she has to go see it. We were grateful that our tech was much nicer than the one in the movie!)
So....we were thinking I was maybe 9 weeks, but during the ultrasound, the ultrasound technician said, "So, you want to know how far along you are? You are 11 weeks, 6 days. Due date August 9th." Hallelujah!!! I was thrilled. This whole pregnancy thing has not been too fun. I've been feeling really crappy since before Christmas. People say congrats and ask if I'm excited, and I say, "Dan is. I'm hoping I will be once I don't feel nausea 24-hours a day!" Unfortunately, this whole morning (noon and night) sickness really does dampen the excitement. It's right about this time of night when I'm thinking to myself, "Self, why do women EVER get pregnant again!?"
I know I shouldn't complain, because I know this all part of the big, beautiful plan, but man, it's rough. Props to all you moms out there who have suffered in silence. I feel like all I do these days is complain! I'm the worst wife ever these days, but I'm hoping that someday I'll be fun again (and maybe even do some cooking and cleaning). Ok, enough of the venting! We really are excited (and completely freaked out!) for this next phase of our lives. I was particularly grateful that I'm several weeks further along than I thought I was, which I'm hoping means less time being sick and a earlier due date. (I'm definitely not stoked to experience a hot California summer being huge and pregnant, but what can you do!?) We are grateful that we have such supportive friends and family who are so happy for us and who have pitched in to help out and show love and support. We love you!! Stay tuned....

WooooHoooo! So happy for you guys! Congrats again, and can I get an AMEN for pregnancy not being fun? I ask myself the same question,"Self, why would you want to get pregnant again when you know how horrible you felt with Mia?" I still got the baby fever though! All I have to do is look at Mia to remind me of why I want another one. The end product is the reason we do it all over again! Love you and miss you, it will all be over soon! You're going to be a great mother.

hopefully things will get better. that's a huge bummer about the all day nausea. that doesn't sound fun at all.

Holly,
I am so sorry you are so sick. I know how you feel. Not to discourage, but I was sick for the whole 40 weeks!!! I only empathize! What have you tried?? I found that if I did a combination of these items and switched them around, I could pretty much get through the day...

ginger snaps, peppermint tea (caffeine free of course), jolly ranchers or mints, preggy pops (hard candy you can find at maternity stores), saltines of course, bananas, ginger ale. Sorry if you've tried them all already!

It will pass and it is all worth every minute!! Hang in there!!!

Don't worry, you'll feel that way again during labor:) I swore I was never having another child again...until the second I held her...it makes it all worth it.
For me the 2nd trimester was heaven...they usually call it they honeymoon phase.
As for the heat, bless the A.C. baby!
We are truly happy for you guys!

I'm so excited for you guys! And, if you have the baby early, we will be in Cali! Either way, we will get to see your new little bundle of joy, or we will get to see you 9 months pregnant! We will be in Cali the first week in August, we actually leave on the
9th to go home. I hate being pregnant. I want one more child, but I never want to be pregnant again.

Congrats! I am so happy you are having a baby. I was so sick with all three kids, but it really is worth it when they come out and you see how cute they are. It"s funny because I don't think I realized you still lived in California. I saw your name on Sunnys blog. I am in San Diego. I hope all is well. Kami

I feel for you but it does get better. I asked myself that same question after I had Zoe. Why do women do this again? You forget. It is a small moment of fear and pain for so much happiness.

I hope its okay that I'm reading you blog. Congratulations!!!! I'm so excited for you. I totally understand what you are going through, and I'm so sorry. Not fun at all. I've been sick with every pregnancy. The good news is that for most people around 11 weeks you will slowly start to feel better. So, hopefully the worst is behind you.
I've heard that ginger ale helps for some people. Let me know if I can help in anyway.
